Mooting

I am currently working on the 60++ questions, which we have to answer by Sunday 12 midnight, in preparation for the mini run-offs on Monday evening to be able to identify the 6 oralists for the Stetson Competition in Florida, USA! But before that, a lot of hard work and sleepless nights need to be done.

Note: Before going to Stetson in Florida, the school's representatives need to win first in the Asian competition to be held in Thailand or Philippines? Hopefully, Thailand! Each of those who manifested in the competition have a 66.67% chance of getting into the team.

Mooting never really came into my mind, as debating never really became my thing. I like arguing with a lot of people, but I was not really into the formal debate thing (I remember joining a class debate back in grade school, though). Anyway, these changed when I entered law school, particularly during the OrSem, when we were exposed to ASIL. Initially, I was attracted to the org because (1) they send competent members abroad to moot court competitions and (2) it would really help me develop my writing and speaking skills, as promised. I tried changing my traditional join-an-org-but-not-be-an-active-member by joining the Colayco Cup (initiation of the org, for the lack of a better term). I know I sucked during the said Cup. I had a mental block and totally forgot my speech! But at least I tried, right? I also represented Block D for the 2008 Sta. Maria Persons Moot Court Competition (Persons Debate, in other words; but mind you, debate and moot are two different things). So at least, I now have an experience in mooting. But I still have a lot to learn and practice!

Going back to the questions I'm currently working on, I find it weird that this involves the shrimp-like crustacean called Krill, particularly, the Antarctic Krill. I just met this creature because of the competition. Would you believe that such creature is so relevant to the ecosystem as they serve themselves to feed whales, seals, etc? Maybe that's why it's in the Compromis. And it's a good source of protein too! I'd like to try these, since I love shrimps (hay! craving for Tempura (not the chips ) again!)!

Hopefully, I'll do good with this write-up and the run-offs on Monday! So I'll be able to have a chance to go abroad and to represent Ateneo in moot court competitions! Let's keep our fingers crossed!
